ALUMNI RELATIONS
With more than 42,000 alumni around the world, the
HKUST network is moving from strength to strength.
Along with the series of 20th Anniversary reunions,
the year saw the establishment of the non-local alumni
chapter in Singapore. With the enthusiastic support of
alumni there, the chapter extends our global alumni

In November 2010, the University Council approved the
formation of the HKUST Convocation, with members
comprising all degree holders of HKUST. Its first Standing
Committee was elected, with Mr Sean Lin, an alumnus of
the Business School, becoming the Founding Chairman.
The Convocation aims to promote goodwill among
members of the Convocation as well as between the
Convocation and the University, provide ideas to the
University and facilitate good relations between the
University and the general public. By being an ex-officio
Council Member, Mr Lin embodies alumni involvement in
University governance.
The HKUST Alumni Association saw a new chapter unfold
when Ms Laura Cozijnsen came on board as President.
With dedicated team members, the Association organized
a wide array of programs to draw alumni together,
from social networking to social services, educational
development to supporting education.
During the year, this spirit of belonging was nurtured by
a series of alumni gatherings around the world attended
by President Tony F Chan and Dr Eden Y Woon, Vice-
President for Institutional Advancement. Cities that
saw these receptions included New York, Boston, San
Francisco, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen and
Singapore. There was also a get-together in Switzerland.
Over the past two decades, HKUST has fostered graduates
who have gone on to demonstrate their distinguished
capabilities in a variety of arenas. The launch of the
Alumni Faces website during the year now provides an
online platform to showcase the accomplishments of
alumni to fellow alumni, students, and the community.
