Awards and Recognition
• 電子及計算機工程學系曾兵教授及其 2010 年度博士畢業生伏晶晶博士（現於 Microsoft Research Asia
工作）的《方向性離散餘旋變換 — 一種全新的圖像編碼框架》，獲 2011 年國際電機及電子工程師學會
視訊技術期刊頒發最佳論文獎。曾教授亦憑著同一篇論文在巴西里約熱內盧舉行的 IEEE 國際電路與系
統年會 2011 上贏得最佳論文獎。
Prof Bing Zeng, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and his 2010 PhD graduate
Dr Jingjing Fu, now working at Microsoft Research Asia, were selected to receive the 2011 IEEE
Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology – Best Paper Award for their paper
“Directional Discrete Cosine Transforms: A New Framework for Image Coding”. With the same paper,
Prof Zeng also won the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems
2011, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
• 電子及計算機工程學系陳文新教授及其研究團隊的「用於 SOC 設計的新一代納米級 CMOS 器件仿真模
型的研究和驗証」研究項目，榮獲深圳市科學技術協會頒發 2009 年度深圳市科技創新獎。
Prof Mansun Chan, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and his team won the 2009
Shenzhen City Technology Innovation Award from the Shenzhen Science and Technology Association
with the project “New Generation Nano-CMOS Device Model Research and Verification for SOC
Design”.
• 電子及計算機工程學系馮雁教授及其研究團隊的「3G車載語音控制娛樂信息系統」研究項目，獲頒
2010 年深港技術創新大賽二等獎。
Prof Pascale Fung, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and her team received a
Second Class Prize in the Shenzhen/Hong Kong Technology Innovation Competition 2010 for their
ITF/APAS project on a 3G automotive infotainment system.
• 工業工程及物流管理學系洪流教授與西北大學 Barry L Nelson 教授合著的論文《Selecting the Best
System when Systems are Revealed Sequentially》，榮獲工業工程師協會頒發「IIE Transactions Best
Paper Award — Operations 2009」。
Prof Jeff Hong, Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management, was awarded the IIE
Transactions Best Paper Award-Operations 2009 for his paper “Selecting the Best System when Systems
are Revealed Sequentially”, co-authored with Prof Barry L Nelson of Northwestern University.
• 工業工程及物流管理學系蘇孝宇教授以其在人體工學方面的重大貢獻，獲選為 Institute of Ergonomics
and Human Factors 院士。
Prof Richard So, Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management, was elected
a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors for his significant contributions to
ergonomics.
• 工業工程及物流管理學系宗福季教授獲全球品質領域的著名國際機構國際品質學院選為院士。
Prof Fugee Tsung, Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management, has been elected
Academician to the International Academy for Quality (IAQ), the most prestigious international
organization in the field of quality.

• 機械工程學系趙汝恒教授於 2011 年獲選為國際室內空氣質量與氣候協會院士。
Prof Christopher Chao, Department of Mechanical Engineering, was elected to the Academy of
Fellows of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate in 2011.
• 資訊、商業統計及營運管理學系徐岩教授合著的電訊政策論文《建築物內網線的接入是本地固定網路
競爭的障礙：香港案例》，提出的新架構已獲香港電訊管理局採納，為政府 2010 年起的寬頻網絡互
聯方式。領導香港政府中央政策組的「兩岸三地高科技產業之合作互補，與香港高科技產業之應有對
策」研究項目。
Prof Yan Xu, Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management,
co-authored a paper “Access to In-building Wiring as a Barrier to Local Fixed Network Competition:
The Case of Hong Kong” in telecommunications policy. The paper proposes a new framework which
has been adopted by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) of Hong Kong to review
its broadband network interconnection since 2010. He had also led a project of the Central Policy Unit
of the Hong Kong Government on “The Cooperation of Hong Kong, Mainland and Taiwan in High
Technology Industry, and the Agenda of High Technology Industry Policy in Hong Kong”.
• 市場學系 Anirban Mukhopadhyay 教授榮獲美國消費者心理學協會頒發新晉學者成就獎，表揚他對
科學的卓越貢獻。
Prof Anirban Mukhopadhyay, Department of Marketing, was honored with the Society for
Consumer Psychology's Early Career Achievement Award for Distinguished Scientific Contribution.
• 經濟學系李瑶教授獲西安大略大學頒發最佳論文獎。
Prof Amber Li, Department of Economics, was awarded a Best Dissertation Prize by the University of
Western Ontario.
• 管理學系朱靜教授榮獲管理學院（人力資源分部）頒發 2011 年度學術成就獎。
Prof Jing Zhu, Department of Management, was the winner of the Scholarly Achievement Award for
2011 from Academy of Management (HR Division).
• 社會科學部寶克教授與科大研究團隊向創新科技署提交題為「制訂框架以評估香港研究及創新活動的
經濟影響」的諮詢報告。研究團隊成員包括來自工商管理學院及社會科學院的易東萊教授、鄭國漢教
授、鄒偉業博士、林益民教授及白定邦教授。
Prof Erik Baark , Division of Social Science, led a HKUST research team and submitted a report
titled “Consultancy Study to Develop a Framework to Assess the Economic Impact of Research and
Innovation Activities in Hong Kong” to the Innovation and Technology Commission. The research team
included Prof Tony Eastham, Prof Leonard Cheng, Dr William Chow, Prof Yi-min Lin and Prof Naubahar
Sharif from the school of Business and Management, and Social Science.
