科大與業界的研究夥伴關係摘要如下：
Highlights of HKUST’s research partnerships with industry:
於1999年至2006年七年期間（即自創新及科技基金計劃推行開始），科大獲
創新及科技基金撥款3.68億元 ，遠超香港任何其他院校所得的數額。
HKUST has been allocated $368 million from Innovation and
Technology Fund over the seven-year period 1999-2006 (i.e. since
the beginning of the Innovation and Technology Fund program) —
substantially more than any other institution in Hong Kong.
同期，科大獲工業界資助3.77億元，進行合約
研究及合作研發。
Over this same period, HKUST has received
$377 million in industrial funding for
contract research and collaborative R&D.
科大的技術轉移中心及科大研究開發有限公司（RDC），攜手建立大學與工業界的合作和研發夥伴關係，例如：
The University’s Technology Transfer Center and the HKUST R and D Corporation Ltd collaborate to establish university-
industry collaboration, R&D partnerships, and the protection and licensing of intellectual property. Examples include :
催化納米技術可清除室內空氣中的活性生物污染物，捷和實業有限公司獲得將這項應用於空氣清新機的專利權及使用許可，現時已推
出巿場，以改善室內空氣質素。從科大分拆出來的公司Artenano Ltd，則獲生產納米結構催化劑的專利權及使用許可，亦應用於室內
空氣清新機。
Catalytic nanotechnologies for the removal of biologically active indoor air contaminants have been patented and licensed
to Chiaphua Industries Ltd for use in appliances that are now in the marketplace to enhance indoor air quality, and also
to Artenano Ltd, an HKUST spin-off company, for the production of nanostructed catalysts, again for indoor air quality
applications.
科研成果轉化及市場推廣
科大通過人力資源發展、科技擴散及轉移、知識
產權保護和許可使用，以及籌組新公司等，致力
對香港及區域經濟發展作出貢獻。
人力資源是技術擴散最有效的途徑。科大2005
年共有1,182名碩士畢業生及119名博士畢業
生，大部份均投身私營及公營部門，將他們修讀
學科的深厚知識、專業技術，以及創作與創新能
力帶入行內。這些畢業生是推動行業革新的生力
軍，在香港轉型為知識型社會的過程中，擔當重
要角色。
Commercialization and Business Development
HKUST strives to make a contribution to economic development
in Hong Kong and the region by human resource development,
technology diffusion and transfer, intellectual property protection and
licensing, and the incubation of start-up companies.
Human resources are the most effective means of technology
diffusion. Most of the 1,182 Masters and 119 doctoral graduates from
HKUST in 2005 moved into the private and public sectors, taking with
them in-depth knowledge of their discipline, know-how and an ability
to be creative and innovative. These graduates, and indeed those at
the bachelors level, are a force for change and can play a major role in
the transition of Hong Kong to a knowledge-based society.
