he School of Engineering is the largest school at the university,
taking in about 40% of our undergraduate and graduate
students.
The School is also a pioneer in dual degree program. Our elite four-
year undergraduate Technology and Management Program, the first
of its kind in Hong Kong, is producing graduates who are able to
tackle issues and create opportunities from both technological and
business points of view. The program is jointly run by the School of
Engineering and the Business School – both globally renowned in their
respective field.
The Engineering School’s pursuit of excellence has achieved
global acclaim:

Consistently ranked by the
Times Higher Education Supplement
as
among the world’s top 25 engineering and technology universities
since 2004
•
The Mechanical Engineering Department gained the top spot
globally for research output in 2005 based on a worldwide survey
of 265 universities
•
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering ranked
No.1 globally for the total number of papers published in IEEE
Transactions on Electron Devices from 1998-2005; No.2 in IEEE
Transactions on Wireless Communication from 2002-2005; and
No.3 in IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video
Technology from 1997-2005.

The Geotechnical Group in the Department of Civil Engineering
was ranked No.1 in terms of the number of papers published in
four leading journals from 2001 - 2005.

工學院首創雙學位課程，當中，四年精英制的科
技及管理課程，在香港首開先河。課程的畢業生

於《 IEEE電子器件匯刊》發表的論文數目全

Transactions on Wireless Communication 》

2005年，於《IEEE視頻技術用電路與系統匯
刊》發表的論文數目，全球排名第三。

在2001至2005年，土木工程學系的岩土
小組在四本著名期刊發表的論文數目，排名
第一。
