研究中心及研究所
由創校初期開始,科大一直鼓勵設立跨學科研究
中心及研究所,在重要領域,發揮研究的“聚眾
效應”能力,此舉對香港的經濟發展、對我們取
得捐獻支持、提高大學名聲,以及促進與商界、
政府及業界的互動等,都可作出貢獻。隨著新興
學科及社會不斷發展,我們將繼續設立研究中心
及研究所。
以四億港元新成立的納米科技及先進材料研究及
發展中心,以納米及先進材料研究院有限公司
(NAMI)的名義運作,將擴闊科大納米材料技術研
發所目前的研究範疇,並發揮科大的優勢,領導
香港的新技術研發。
研發中心將專注發展以下四個核心科技範圍:
•
納米材料及納米應用產品;
•
納米電子:顯示器及照明;
•
先進材料:電子封裝及組裝;
•
先進製造工序:先進成形、表面處理及可持
續環境發展等技術。
Research Centers and Institutes
From its earliest days, HKUST has encouraged the creation of
interdisciplinary research centers and institutes to establish a critical
mass of research capabilities in areas of high importance to Hong
Kong’s economy. The move also attracts funding, enhances visibility
and boosts interactions with business, the Government, and industry.
Research centers and institutes have continued to be established as
emerging fields and economic and social concerns evolve.
The new HK$400 million R&D Center for Nanotechnology and
Advanced Materials for Hong Kong and the region, operating under
the banner of Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Limited (NAMI),
will expand the scope of the University’s Institute of NanoMaterials and
NanoTechnology and leverage HKUST’s expertise to lead research and
development of new technologies in Hong Kong.
The R&D Center focuses on four core technology areas:
•
Nanomaterials and nano-enabled products;
•
Nanoelectronics: displays and lighting;
•
Advanced materials: electronic packaging and assembly;
•
Advanced manufacturing: technologies for advanced forming,
surface treatment and environmental sustainability.
