GREEN INITIATIVES
Sustainability at HKUST is visible on campus in many
areas, from high efficiency lighting to paperless
publishing, and from the organic farms at LG7
of the campus and the HKUST Eco Park to green
roofs and building-integrated foliage. Of particular
note in 2013-14 was the awarding of the rigorous
HK-BEAM gold rating to Residential Halls VIII and IX.
Green endeavors continued among students, with
exploration of issues from food waste practices to
recycling behaviors. The creation of a Sustainable
Campus Leadership Program saw students develop
and implement sustainability projects while the launch
of the Student Sustainability Advisory Group provided
a further bridge between student life and sustainable
campus operations. The fourth annual Green Week
