大事紀要
（2007年7月—2008年6月）
科大首次舉辦校友日，超過1,000名校友攜同親友
參加在科大校園舉行的嘉年華會。隨著科大畢業生的
大家庭日益壯大，是次活動成功促進校友與母校之間的聯
繫。
HKUST organized the first-ever Alumni Day. More than
1,000 alumni along with families and friends took part
in the carnival on the campus that served to further
cement the bond between our growing number of
alumni and the alma mater.
科大計算機科學及工程學系主辦兩岸三地大專生程式
設計比賽；這項一年一度盛事是首次在港舉辦。
Greater China Collegiate Programming Contest, hosted by
HKUST’s Computer Science and Engineering Department,
took place at the HKUST. This was the first time that the
annual event had been held in Hong Kong.
中國最先進的深海考察船大洋一號8月應科大邀請訪港，
公眾可索取免費入場券登船參觀。由市民反應熱烈，申請
人數超出登船名額十倍，最後採取抽籤形式派發入場券。
China’s most advanced deep-sea research vessel Dayang
Yihao visited Hong Kong in August at the invitation of
the HKUST. Free admission tickets for members of the
public to visit the vessel were over-subscribed 10
times and had to be allocated by lucky draw.
來自21個國家超過100位頂尖科學家雲集科大，參與第六屆
生物信息學國際會議，2006年9月開幕的科大生物信息中心
獲選為會議場地。
More than a hundred leading scientists from 2l countries
converged on the HKUST campus for the 6th International
Conference on Bioinformatics. HKUST’s Bioinformatics
Center, set up in September 2006, was picked as
the event venue.
