五個重點研究領域
科大歷來的重點發展策略，集中在數個對香港
社會發展有重大影響的研究領域，亦是科大矢
志成為世界級學術領袖的關鍵項目，並切合香
港、珠江三角洲以至其他地區的社會及經濟發
展所需。科大在策略發展計劃中，擬定下列重
點研究領域：
科大在上述及其他領域所開拓的研究，已在國
際上取得一席位。這些研究及發展需採用跨學
科的方法。由於科大的四所學院，各項專業人
才雲集，因而對跨學科的研究可盡展所長。透
過嶄新發明及與其他機構和行業緊密合作，科
大正不斷拓展本身的科研成果。
THE FIVE HIGH-IMPACT AREAS
HKUST concentrates on carefully selected research fields, chosen for
their high impact on the local community and the University’s vision
of becoming a world-class leader in each targeted area. They have
particular relevance to the social and economic development of Hong
Kong, the Pearl River Delta and beyond. Listed in our Strategic Plan,
the disciplines are:
The University is already recognized for its ground-breaking
research in these and many other fields, bolstered by an ability to
call on a broad range of expertise across our four Schools when a
multidisciplinary approach is needed. We are now making further
inroads through new discoveries and by working alongside other
institutions and industries.
