4月，科大舉行了盛大的捐贈者答謝會，向捐贈
者、社會領袖及校友致謝。5月，又舉行了簡單
而隆重的科大圖書館命名典禮，將圖書館命名為
李兆基圖書館，以答謝李兆基基金主席李兆基博
士的慷慨捐贈。李博士透過李兆基基金捐贈了
3,300萬港元，支持科大發展成為一所著名的研
究型學府。
科大對上述人士的熱心捐助及支持，衷心感謝。
保持一流的教學和研究水平，需大量資源，因
此，籌集捐獻任重而道遠。
內地關係
科大積極與內地高等學府建立聯繫，以加強雙方
的合作，並鼓勵內地頂尖青年學子來港深造。
自創校以來，科大不遺餘力發展及加強跨境合作
關係，當中包括：

與內地八所大學、一所台灣大學及中國科學
院簽訂多項合作協議
•
學院教研人員在國家重點「 973 」基礎研發
計劃項下，帶領多項主要研究項目
•
成為中國大學校長聯誼會會員
•
合作設立北京大學－香港科技大學深圳－香
港研究所（即深港產學研基地）開辦高級管理
人員、研發及企業管理等課程，以及設立深
圳北京大學－香港科技大學醫學中心
In April, a donors’ reception was held to thank donors, community
leaders and alumni for their support. This was followed in May by a
naming ceremony for the University Library, which became the Lee
Shau Kee Library in honor of Dr Lee Shau Kee, Chairman of the Lee
Shau Kee Foundation. Dr Lee donated HK$33 million through the Lee
Shau Kee Foundation to support HKUST’s development as a leading
research university.
HKUST is extremely grateful to the community for such generous
gifts and support. Maintaining excellence in teaching and research
is an expensive proposition. Fund-raising is therefore a vital and
ongoing task.
Mainland Initiatives
HKUST actively forges connections to strengthen collaboration with
Mainland universities and to encourage Mainland young academic
high-flyers to pursue their studies in Hong Kong.
Since establishment, HKUST has worked hard to initiate and strengthen
cross-boundary connections. This has seen:

Co-operative agreements signed with eight universities on the
Mainland and one in Taiwan as well as the Chinese Academy of
Sciences
•
Faculty members lead major research projects under the National
“973” Fundamental Research Program
•
HKUST become a member of the Association of University
Presidents in China
•
Collaboration in the innovative PKU-HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong
Institution – Industry, Education and Research (IER) – for executive
education, R&D and entrepreneurship; and the Shenzhen PKU-
HKUST Medical Center
