• HKUST Business School maintained its business and
accounting accreditation with the Association to
Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International
(AACSB).
• HKUST launched three Massive Open Online
Courses on edX, a major provider of MOOCs.
• The Department of Electronic and Computer
Engineering, together with organizers from the
University of Hong Kong and Zhejiang University,
held the third Brainstorming Workshop on 5G
Wireless at HKUST.
• HKUST Business School hosted the 2014 UNICON
Directors’ Conference, drawing deans and directors
of executive education from over 50 top universities
and business schools.
• The first Hackathon@HKUST was organized to
encourage students to propose new ideas for
building software applications.
• Science Toy Design Competition was launched
at HKUST together with NSI International Inc, a
leading designer and manufacturer of educational
toys in the US.
• The fourth Intimacy of Creativity season took place.
The innovative event, where young composers
work with established musicians, drew a record 199
submissions from over 40 countries in the call-for-
scores.
• HKUST celebrated the opening of the HKUST Energy
Institute and held its first forum on sustainable
energy.
• Mr Mark Hodgson was appointed Vice-President
for Administration and Business, with effect from
September 2014.
• Lenovo founder Mr Chuanzhi Liu spoke on “China’s
Latest Manufacturing Growth” at the UC RUSAL
President’s Forum.
• HKUST Business School invited Ms Maggie Wu,
Chief Financial Officer of Alibaba Group, to speak
on the Group’s milestone developments and driving
force.
• The Dual Degree Program in Technology and
Management celebrated its 10th Anniversary.
