至2010年6月30日，科大共有3,044名教職員。
科大第三任校長陳繁昌教授於2009年9月1日履新。
經過一輪嚴謹的全球遴選後，科大校董會於2010年4月宣
布委任史維教授為首席副校長。史教授曾任職密歇根大學
Ann Arbor分校Clarence L“Kelly”Johnson講座教授及航
天工程學系主任。科大十分歡迎這位傑出的學術領袖加入
領導層，並以此為傲。
科大校董會於2010年3月宣佈委任李行偉教授為新任副校
長（研發及研究生教育）。李行偉教授曾任香港大學副校長
兼土木工程學系Redmond講座教授。李教授是一位傑出
的學者、研究工作者、教育家和大學管理人員，擁有廣泛
的本地、內地及國際經驗。科大相信李教授將進一步加強
領導層陣容，提升科大的研究工作和研究生教育水平。
經修訂《香港科技大學條例》，校董會於2010年2月批准
增設副校長（大學拓展）一職。副校長（大學拓展）是科大
管理大學對外關係及發展的要員，負責科大的品牌策略、
深化與持份者的長遠關係、募集資金及協調科大全球網絡
和夥伴計劃。校董會於2010年8月宣佈委任翁以登博士為
副校長（大學拓展）。

s of 30 June 2010, there were 3,044 members of
staff at HKUST.
Prof Tony F Chan took office as the University’s third
President on 1 September 2009.
As a result of a rigorous global search, the University
Council announced in April 2010 the appointment of
Prof Wei Shyy as the University’s new Provost. Prof Shyy
was Clarence L “Kelly” Johnson Collegiate Professor and
Chairman of the Department of Aerospace Engineering
at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The University
takes pride in welcoming this distinguished academic
leader to its senior leadership team.
The University Council announced in March 2010 the
appointment of Prof Joseph Hun-wei Lee, who was
Redmond Chair of Civil Engineering and Pro-Vice-
Chancellor and Vice-President at the University of Hong
Kong, as the new Vice-President for Research and
Graduate Studies. Prof Lee is a distinguished scholar,
research leader, educator and university administrator
with extensive local, national and international
experience. The University is confident that he will
further strengthen the senior leadership team and
help bring the University’s research enterprise and
postgraduate education to the next level of excellence.
Following an amendment to the University Ordinance to
make room for an additional Vice-President, the Council
approved in February 2010 the establishment of the new
Vice-President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) who
will be the University’s chief relations and development
officer responsible for its strategic branding, long-term
relationships with stakeholders, fund-raising as well
as coordination of the University’s global network and
partnership initiatives. The Council announced in August
2010 the appointment of Dr Eden Woon as Vice-
President for Institutional Advancement.
The University Council approved in February 2010 the
appointment of Prof Shiu-Yuen Cheng as Acting Vice-
President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The appointment
followed Prof Roland Chin’s resignation from his post as
VPAA with effect from early February 2010. Following
Prof Cheng’s appointment, Prof Michael Loy was
appointed Acting Dean of Science.
After Prof Tongxi Yu’s retirement in June 2010, Prof
Lionel M Ni was appointed Acting Dean of HKUST’s
Fok Ying Tung Graduate School (FYTGS) in July 2010.
With his strong academic leadership, close involvement
with FYTGS, and Mainland connections, Prof Ni is well
positioned to take interim charge of the Graduate School
until the search for its new leadership is completed.
Prof Paul Ching-Wu Chu retired from the University
Presidency on 1 September 2009 after more than
eight years of dedicated and distinguished service. In
recognition of his significant contributions, the University
awarded to him the honorary titles of President Emeritus
and University Professor Emeritus.

科大校董會於2010年2月批准委任鄭紹遠教授為署理副校
長（學術）。是次委任填補了錢大康教授於2010年2月初
卸任署理副校長（學術）一職後的空缺。繼鄭教授後，雷明
德教授獲委任為理學院署理院長。
余同希教授於2010年6月榮休後，倪明選教授於2010年7
月獲委任為香港科技大學霍英東研究院署理院長。倪教授
憑藉傑出的學術領導能力，以及與霍英東研究院和內地的
緊密聯繫，相信在遴選新的領導層期間定能勝任此職位。
科大校長朱經武教授為科大盡心盡力服務逾八載後，於
2009年9月1日退任。為表揚他對科大的重大貢獻，科大
向他授予榮休校長及榮休教授的榮銜。
