科大校董會2009年3月宣佈聘任
陳繁昌教授
為
科大第三任校長，由2009年9月1日起生效，
接替2009年8月於科大榮休的朱經武教授。
科大於檢討高層管理架構後，決定將副校長
（研究及發展）改名為副校長（研究及研究生教
育）。副校長（研究及研究生教育）將承擔更多
職責，並負責制定研究及研究生教育策略發
展，以便實現將科大研究實力提升至世界領先
水平這一核心使命。科大現正積極物色副校長
（研究及研究生教育）人選。
科大署理副校長（研究及發展）易東萊教授為
科大忠誠服務12載後，於2009年4月榮休。
自2009年1月1日起，袁銘輝教授獲委任為科
大署理副校長（研究及發展）。
A
s of 30 June 2009, there were a total of 3,062 members
of staff.
The University Council announced in March 2009 the appointment
of Prof Tony F CHAN as the next and third President of the University
effective 1 September 2009, succeeding Prof Paul Chu who retired in
August 2009.
Following a review of the University’s senior management structure,
the position of Vice-President for Research and Development (VPRD)
will be renamed as Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies
(VPRG). In order to fulfill the University’s central mission of raising
the University’s research to a world-leading level, the VPRG will carry
additional responsibilities for strategic development of research and
postgraduate studies. The search for the VPRG is in active progress.
The Acting VPRD, Prof Tony Eastham, retired from the University in
April 2009 after 12 years of dedicated service. Prof Matthew M F
Yuen has been appointed Acting VPRD from 1 January 2009.
