Undergraduates Recruitment
With a growing number of outstanding Mainland
students being recruited over the years, HKUST is regarded
by many Mainlanders as a highly preferred institution for
pursuing higher education. For 2008-09 admission, the
overall intake of quality Mainland students remained high.
Students admitted on the basis of Mainland’s JEE results
all attained scores qualifying for admission to the top
five institutions on the Mainland. At the same time, two
international gold medalists were admitted.
In 2008-09, the University also extended its scope to cover
Taiwan students. Three outstanding Taiwan students were
recruited as a result. The trio were ranked among the
top 4.9% to 0.8% of the 148,000 candidates who took
the public examination General Scholastic Ability Test in
Taiwan last year.
