HKUST’s academic partnership network continues to expand with active
exchange activities now spanning 131 such institutions worldwide. Of our
exchange students, 211 are from Europe, 147 from the Mainland, the rest of
Asia and Asia Pacific, 140 from the United States, and 40 from Canada and
Central America.
Together with our sister Hong Kong institutions, HKUST took part in the annual
conferences organized by NAFSA, Association of International Educators, and
the European Association for International Education, the two most renowned
events in the field of international education.
On the academic side, HKUST is a founding member of the Association of
East Asian Research Universities, whose work encourages cooperation among
faculty and students from member institutions. We are an active member of the
Association of Pacific Rim Universities, set up to strengthen pan-Pacific academic
links, and we created the HKUST Europe Institute which has French and German
Centers to promote academic exchange and R&D collaboration with European
universities, research institutes and companies.
VISITS AND AGREEMENTS
HKUST attracts visitors from academia and government, among other sectors,
from countries around the globe, drawn by the academic quality and standing
that the University has built over the past 16 years.
This year 45 overseas universities from outside the mainland sent formal
delegations to visit HKUST. Our global reputation also helped cement
collaborative and exchange agreements with institutions of the highest standard,
with new agreements signed with 19 universities from nine different countries
in 2006-07 alone.
