Choice Award at FameLab Hong Kong.

sending the largest number of contestants to the
competition.

of eight recipients of the 2012-13
RGC-Fulbright Hong Kong Junior
Scholar Award. He will be
affiliated with the Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry at the
University of Colorado Boulder
for 10 months to conduct PhD
dissertation research.
mr Kin lam
, Department of Physics, won the
Best Poster Award for “Information Processing by
Dynamical Synapses in Continuous Attractor Neural
Networks” at the 15th Annual Conference of the
Physical Society of Hong Kong. He discovered a
mechanism by which spiking neurons can enhance
the resolution of the neural system. PhD student
mr Ying Hoi lai
, Nano Science and Technology
Program of the School of Science, received the Best
Student Presentation Award for his talk on “MgS
Schottky Barrier Devices: a Candidate for Solar-blind
UV Sensing” at the same conference. He successfully
prepared novel materials and determined exceptional
properties that are suitable for a number of civilian
and military applications.

the second runner-up in the Hong Kong Chemistry
Olympiad 2012.
ms Yonnie Ying Kiu Fu

Legnica, Poland.

HKUSt team
won the Best Presentation Award
at the Asia Regional Jamboree of the International
Genetically Engineered Machine Competition and
was one of 18 teams to go to MIT for the final
competition.
