科大的研究人員繼續在基礎及應用研究專業領
域，取得豐碩成果：
於2007-08年舉辦的著名研究活動包括：

2008年3月25日至26日，由生物化學系與
生物學系合辦的第九屆東亞研究型大學協會
分子生物學及生物科技工作坊於科大舉行。
•
2008年6月8日至13日，由生物技術研究
所主辦、生物化學系及分子神經科學中心協
辦的第五屆「分子及細胞神經生物學」戈登
研討會（Gordon Research Conference）於
科大舉行。作為首屆於亞洲舉辦的戈登研討
會，本屆會議成功促進美國與亞洲國家的神
經學科學家相互交流。
•
2008年3月1日，第一屆中國無線射頻識別
（RFID）基準測試論壇及備忘協議簽署儀式
於科大舉行，約100位來自內地及本港主要
的RFID單位的代表出席，攜手提升RFID基
準測試方法與標準。
Research and Scholarship
HKUST researchers continue to make substantial
contributions at the forefront of their disciplines, in both
fundamental and applied research.
Prestigious research events held in 2007-08
included:

The Ni nth As soc i a t i on of Eas t As i an Resea rch
Universities (AEARU) Workshop on Molecular Biology
and Biotechnology, organized by the Departments of
Biochemistry and Biology, was held on 25-26 March
2008 at HKUST.
•
Co-organized with the Department of Biochemistry
and Molecular Neuroscience Center, the Biotechnology
Research Institute hosted the fifth Gordon Research
Conference on “Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology”
at HKUST from 8 to 13 June 2008. As the only
Gordon Research Conference held in Asia, it plays an
important role in promoting interactions between the
neuroscientists of America and Asia.

The 1st China Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)
Benchmarking Test Forum & MOU Signing Ceremony
was held at HKUST on 1 March 2008. About 100
representatives from major RFID organizations from the
Mainland and Hong Kong attended to advance the level
of RFID benchmarking tests and standards.
