In 2013-14, Hong Kong enhanced its role as a hub for higher education. I am proud to see that
HKUST has played a pivotal role in this endeavor through its research, scholarship and other
initiatives which have drawn some of the world’s top minds to our city.
As laid out in HKUST’s Strategic Plan for 2011-16, the University’s management and faculty
have worked tirelessly towards its goals to excel in research and teaching. Faculty development,
innovation and knowledge transfer and the building of bridges to Mainland China and Western
countries have all progressed during this past year.
