Moving ahead in
pedagogy
The University’s Center for Enhanced
Learning and Teaching continued
to develop teaching capabilities and
keep faculty up to date with the
latest classroom technologies and
pedagogical thinking.
The Center provides a range of services including new faculty orientation, evaluation of
teaching through student feedback, teaching development grant projects, and innovative
use of technology. A joint initiative was a series of workshops organized together with the
School of Engineering’s Center for Engineering Education Innovation (E²I). The workshops
focused on “Preparing for an Academic Career” to identify the skill sets required to be
a professional academic. A Leadership Training Camp for research postgraduates was
organized together with the Student Affairs Office.
Separately, E²I played a significant role in advancing pedagogy within the School of
Engineering and continued to offer its series of conversations on engineering learning and
teaching for faculty members, covering topics such as academic advising and assessment.
Orientation workshops for around 30 School-level faculty advisors were held.
