Technology Award (Second Prize).
• Prof Joseph Lee, Department
of Civil and Environmental
Engineering, won the Karl
Emil Hilgard Hydraulic Prize
awarded by the American
Society of Civil Engineers.
• Prof Huiwen Lian, Department of
Management, received an Early
Career Award 2012/13 from the
Research Grants Council.
• Prof Wouter Stam, Department of
Management, won the 2012 Citation
of Excellence Award from Emerald
Management Reviews.
• Prof Weichuan Yu, Department
of Electronic and Computer
Engineering, received the
Biomedical Wellness Pioneer
Award at the 2013 SPIE Defense,
Security, and Sensing meeting.
• Three engineering professors were elected Fellows of
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,
bringing the total at HKUST to 30. They were Prof Amine
Bermak, Prof Mansun Chan, and Prof Daniel Palomar,
Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering

elected to the Board of Directors
of the International Society of
Indoor Air Quality and Climate.
