• A team of 10 Year 2 mechanical engineering students won
the Championship in the 2nd Greater China Region Design
Competition, organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
• Mr Ken Ka Cheuk Yung, Dual Degree Program in Technology
and Management, Mr Peter Wai Lun Siu, Risk Management and
Business Intelligence, and Mr Andy Chun Kit Wong, Ms Victoria
Hiu Lam Tse and Mr Carson Chun Fung Wu, School of Business
and Management, won the Championship in The Joint University
Eco-Business Innovation Award 2012-2013 with their “GreenLung”
recommendation for an eco-vacation plan.
• A team of more than 20 science and engineering undergraduates
won a gold medal at the International Genetically Engineered
Machine Competition (iGEM) with their “B.hercules” project,
subtitled “The Terminator of Colon Cancer”.

and Mr Owen Chan, Global Business Program,
won the 6th Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants (ACCA) Hong Kong
Business Competition (Degree Category) and
awards for Best Proposal, Most Creative Team
and My Favorite Team.
• Mr Anthony Hon Pan Lo and Ms Shavian
Wai Shan Ng, Electronic and Computer
Engineering, won the Gold Award at the
Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association
Innovation & Technology Project Competition
2012.
• First-year students Mr Philip Wai Ching Chan,
Mr Marco Chi Ho Chu, Mr Kenny Cheuk Him
Ng, and Mr Rex Sheung Tsun Sin, Global
Business Program, won the University Student
Category of the SCMP/IFPHK Financial Planner
Awards 2012.
• School of Business and Management first-
year undergraduates Mr Timothy Kan Chiu
Chau, Mr Jun Kyu Lee, Ms Charmaine Cheuk
Wing Ng and Mr Ricardo Tomas Wong won
the Joint University Outstanding Marketing
Award 2012-2013, beating more than 450
other competitors from Hong Kong tertiary
institutions. The team also won the Best
Presentation Award.
• Mr Hwon Kim, Year 1, Mr
Nelson Lik Ching Leung,
Year 3 and Ms Ilona
Christy Unarta, Year 2,
all Chemistry, won the
Champion award at
the 24th Hong Kong
Chemistry Olympiad for
Tertiary Institutions.
• Graduate Mr Herman Ho Man Chan, Marketing and Management,
Year 2 student Mr Nivey Ka Hing Tsang, Finance and Marketing,
and Year 2 student Ms Samantha Wing Man Kong, Chemical and
Environmental Engineering, created the Eldpathy social enterprise,
receiving the Championship and Best Presenter Awards at the
Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge 2012.
