64 HKUST 2016-2017 Annual Report CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2016 JUL HKUST hosted the 57th International Mathematics Olympiad, with more than 1,000 mathematical talents from over 100 countries and regions participating in the large-scale event. AUG The School of Engineering organized its first Technology Leadership and Entrepreneurship Youth Camp, a five- day introduction to entrepreneurship for secondary school students. SEP The School of Business and Management hosted the “New Role of China in the World Economy” conference in Beijing as part of HKUST’s 25th Anniversary global celebrations. The University announced the signing of agreements with four leading higher education institutions at the inaugural Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit: the University of Glasgow, Jagiellonian University, University of Warwick and University of Waterloo. The agreements will foster student international exchange opportunities. The Summit was jointly presented by HKUST in June 2016. Prof Sir Christopher Pissarides, 2010 Nobel Laureate in Economics and IAS Helmut & Anna Pao Sohmen Professor-at-Large at the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), provided insights into the impact of Brexit on global economies as part of the BizInsight@HKUST seminar series. HKUST hosted a conference on the “Splendor of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature”, chaired by Prof Jianmei Liu (Humanities).
