Taught Postgraduate Programs
Student numbers rose by 5.6% to 2,673 in 2014-15. Full-time
students increased to 1,359 while part-timers decreased
slightly to 1,314. Over 50% of taught postgraduates were
from outside Hong Kong, the majority from Mainland China.
International taught postgraduates increased to 348 in the
year under review.
Two new programs were introduced: an MSc in Accounting
(School of Business and Management) and MA in
International Language Education (School of Humanities
and Social Science).
HKUST inaugurated its Graduate Commons, creating a
dedicated campus facility for postgraduate students across
all schools and disciplines to engage in ideas exchange and
collaborative learning.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION
Fostering a Dynamic Ecosystem
Task Force on Entrepreneurship Education, chaired by
Prof Gary Chan (Computer Science and Engineering), was
formed to focus on the educational dimension of knowledge
transfer and entrepreneurship. Students, faculty, staff and
alumni were consulted on how to strengthen HKUST’s
entrepreneurship education to create a thriving ecosystem.
